A Free Gift: A Five Day Teshuva Journey

Day 1: How to do Teshuva Right Now

Over Rosh Hashanah, I thought of you.

I thought of all the beautiful women who make up our community, each with her own story, struggles, hopes, and tefillos. And I davened for all of you: that you should be blessed with a year of revealed goodness, healing, growth, connection, and joy.

As I was davening, something struck me.

The language of writing appears again and again throughout the Rosh Hashanah davening:

Hashem, write us for a good year. Write us in the Book of Life. Who will be written for life…

Clearly, there is a deep connection between writing and this time of year, something I hope we will explore together more deeply in the future.

But for now, I have a special surprise for you.

Aseres Yemei Teshuvah is such a precious and powerful time, a time created for teshuvah, inner growth, and transformation.

The Pele Yoetz writes: “The difference between repenting and praying during the Ten Days of Repentance and doing the same during the rest of the year is like the difference between light and darkness. One moment of teshuvah and good deeds during these days is better than entire days of teshuvah and good deeds during the rest of the year.”

What an extraordinary opportunity these few days hold!

And yet, they are also incredibly busy days. We’re cooking, filling our freezers, shopping, preparing for Yom Tov, and trying to keep up with everything else that needs to be done.

So I wanted to give you a gift: a small pocket of time each day to pause, turn inward, and reconnect.

Every day, I’ll be sending you a short clip about teshuvah. You can listen to all of it, listen to just a little, or skip it on a day when it doesn’t feel right for you. There is no pressure and nothing to keep up with, simply receive it in whatever way works for you.

At the end of each clip, I’ll share a five-minute writing prompt, followed by one minute of reflection.

That means that in just ten minutes a day, you can create a little space for inspiration, writing, and meaningful inner work during these powerful days.

This is my gift to you, my treasured email community.

I’m looking forward to sharing these growth-filled days with my dear community.

May we each be written and sealed for a year filled with the most beautiful new chapters.

Wishing you a Gemar Chasima Tova!

Yocheved
