Today, Shiva Asar B’Tammuz, begins the Three Weeks.
But Shiva Asar is seventeen.
And seventeen is the gematria of טוב.
Good.
What is good about Shiva Asar B’Tammuz?
What is good about mourning, suffering and grief?
There is something very good about the three weeks.
All through the year, we feel pressure to keep going. To function. To manage. To stay positive. To be grateful. To move on.
But the Three Weeks give us permission to feel what is broken.
The Beis Hamikdash was the place where Hashem’s Presence rested openly in this world. Today, we are trying to build that place inside ourselves.
But we don’t build it by skipping over our pain.
We build it by inviting Hashem into the places that hurt.
Into the places that feel stuck.
Into the places where we say, “I don’t understand.”
Into the places where we whisper, “I can’t do this alone.”
That is the טוב of Shiva Asar B’Tammuz.
It is the beginning of a process where we stop running from what hurts, and instead bring it to Hashem.
And sometimes, that truth becomes the first brick in our inner Beis Hamikdash.
Let’s Write
What is the greatest wall in your life now? How does it feel?
Write a letter to Hashem.
Write an honest letter to Hashem about this wall. Don’t write what you think you should say. Write what you really feel, however ugly, painful or uncomfortable it is.
Hear Hashem's theoretical response.
Now imagine Hashem answering you with love.
What might He say to you inside this situation?
Read it over and write a reflection.
P.P.S. The Emotional and Mental Health Awareness Summit
From July 5-19, the Emotional and Mental Health Awareness Summit brings together more than 20 frum women practitioners, each sharing a different path to healing... EFT, breathwork, energy work, somatic tools, and so much more.
And every one of them guides you through a taste of her method, so you're not just learning about it... you're experiencing it.
It's all free to watch during those two weeks.
