Rosh Chodesh Mar Cheshvan, here we are!

It's been an intense two months of Elul and Tishrei. For some of you it has been meaningful and for some of you it has been disconnecting. For some of you it has been hectic and overwhelming, full of family coming and going; and for some of you it has been painfully lonely and heartbreaking. For some of you it highlighted the blessings in your life, for some of you it brought the lacks to the forefront. For some of you it seemed to fly by, for some of you it stretched forever.

Every one of you have had completely different experiences. But each one of you have gone through something. And have learnt a lot, without even realizing.

And now comes the month of Cheshvan. Cheshvan is related to the word meracheshes - whispering and chash - quiet. It's a quiet month that we talk to ourselves, that we process, all the growth that we have experienced the previous hectic months. Indeed, the body part that symbolizes the month is the Dakin - the intestines - the organ that helps us digest and absorb all that we have internalized.

And when we have done all this internal work, this powerful process of digesting all our growth, we can turn mar cheshvan into ram cheshvan - an uplifting and exalted month of growth.

Let's Write!

  1. We're going to make three lists of 10, totaling to a list of 30.

  2. 10 things that were challenging for you this past month

  3. 10 times that you grew or overcame something this month

  4. 10 things that were positive and felt good to you this month

(Note: When we're doing lists, there are three tips that help the exercise be more productive. Remember to do the whole list in one sitting, you can repeat yourself as many times as you want, and if you get stuck just write "I don't know.")

  5. Read it over and write a reflection focusing on which area of integration you'd like to focus on this Cheshvan.

  6. Read over your reflection and choose one sentence or thought that you want to remind yourself throughout the month.

P.S. Would you like a regular space for this?

It can be hard to make time to pause and write on your own. Write Your Way Together gives you a regular place to return—with guidance, connection, and support to take your next step.

Each month, we’ll meet for an inspirational therapeutic writing class, followed by a second class to explore how to bring what you discovered into everyday life. Between classes, our Google group offers space for connection. All classes are recorded and class summaries are sent for a shorter time investment.

Join for $480 for the year, or $56 per month for three months—$168 total.

Registration closes in two days. I’d love to welcome you.

If you’d like to join but something is making it difficult, reply to this email. I’d be happy to hear what you need and see whether I can help it work for you.
