We have entered the month of Kislev. The mazal of Kislev is a keshes, a rainbow.
A rainbow is formed when pure white light refracts into seven shades. Red is nearest the original beam, and violet is the furthest away from the pure white light. But all the colors - red, yellow, orange, green, etc. - are really just an expression of the same light, just seeming different to us based on how it's expressed.
Our life is the same. We all have different colors in our lives, different shades of struggles. Some struggle with the pain of no children, some struggle with the overwhelm too many children. Some struggle with the helplessness of no money, some struggle with the stressful life off too much money. Some struggle with a long lonely day with no company and some struggle with so many people around them and wish for some time for themselves.
Whatever the circumstance, we're all struggling. I see this most clearly when the women sit around my table in a class. So many times IÂ have women sharing a problem that is so difficult for them, but they have no way of knowing that their life is a dream come true for the woman sitting accross them. And that's ok. Because that's the truth of life. We're all here in this world to overcome challenges and we're all struggling. Each person's color, shade and hue was given to them precisely because that's what they need for their growth.
And every single color in the rainbow comes from one Source of Light.
Let's Write!Set a timer for four minutes and answer each of these steps for four minutes each. When you finish, write a reflection.
1. Which color would you choose to describe your reality at this moment? Describe how the color reflects your current situation.
2. Which color do you wish would reflect your life circumstance? Why do you wish for that color?Â
3. Would changing the shade, hue, or tone of any of these colors change your perception of it?
3. How can you understand that both colors are really reflecting the same Light?
Wishing you a beautiful, miraculous, and colorful Kislev!
Sincerely,
Yocheved
